Santana throws first no-hitter in Mets history
After 51 years, the Mets finally get their no-hitter. In the Mets’ 8020th game, Johan Santana tossed 134 pitches in the game against the St. Louis Cardinals for an 8-0 win and a trip into the history books.
No one wearing Mets’ blue and orange had done it, not Tom Seaver, not Dwight Gooden, not Nolan Ryan. Met pitchers have thrown 36 one-hitters, but their missing no-no was one of the most glaring omissions in baseball history.
