A few days ago, I was driving to school along Sugar Factory Road by the Sugar Factory here in Scottsbluff.  Since I have been driving only a few months, I like to be very careful driving. You can imagine my suprise when I got pulled over by a local state trooper for speeding.

When I drive, I do check how fast I am going fairly regularly, so I know that I am not going too fast. So, as I am driving to school, I see the blue lights of a police car coming up behind me and thought he was after someone else. I pulled over anyway, to let him go by, and was very surprised when he pulled up behind me. The best bit about all this is that while, yes I was speeding, he pulled me over for doing 49 in a 45!!!! Luckily, he only gave me a warning, but I do think that getting pulled over for doing four miles over the limit is a bit much.

On reflection, I should not be surprised since I have been told that the police around here  have a “zero tolerance” policy on speeding and get grants from the state and federal government to combat speeding. Still, I do think this was a little extreme, but at least I only got a warning, not a ticket.
